Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 24

Dear members and guests,

Music is in the air! Please join us on Saturday, 24 October, 2020, as we visit the beautiful Ludwigsburg Castle Gardens (Blühendes Barock) for a tour through the famous annual Pumpkin Festival!
The world of music is the theme this year, and over 450,000 pumpkins have been used to create art masterpieces portraying musical themes and instruments from Beethoven through Elvis to Hip Hop. There is even a recreation of the famous Rolling Stone Tongue Logo! You also get the bonus of strolling through the beautiful flower gardens, gorgeous at any time of the year. For kids, the Fairy Tale Garden is also open, and there will also be a station where you can carve your own Halloween Pumpkin! Take advantage of the last day of German daylight savings time this year and join us. You will not want to miss this special event!

We will meet at 14.00 hours at the main entrance to the Blühendes Barock on the Schorndorfer Strasse at the south end of the gardens. We will enjoy two tours through the pumpkin exhibition, beginning at 14.30 hours, one in English, one in German. The tours will last approx. 90 minutes. At the conclusion of the tours, there are no formal dinner plans, but folks are encouraged to stay on to take a closer look at the exhibition or the beautiful gardens on their own, or to form smaller groups to sample the pumpkin food specialties or other foods offered at various places throughout the gardens. Any food you can imagine (and then some) that might have pumpkin in it, can be found at one of the food stands in the gardens. There is also an indoor café located at the west end of the castle itself where you can get out of the weather. For those interested, the Castle itself is also interesting, and there is currently a Hundertwasser art exhibition on display there (extra entry fee).
This event is free for members. We ask Non-Members to pay € 10 at the meeting point.

Remember, we must still adhere to corona rules. You will need a face mask at the meeting point and for entry into the park, and anywhere in the park where there are numbers of people in a tight space. We will observe social distancing throughout the gardens. If you are not feeling well please do not attend. Dress appropriately for the weather at the end of October, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Thanks for your support!

We are limited to 40 participants for this outing. Reservations made in the order they are received.

Best regards,
