November 2020 (2)
Dear Members, Guests and Friends of the German-American Club 1948 Stuttgart,
As most of you know, we have cancelled our November program, a tour and tasting at the Rilling Sekt Cellars, due to the current Corona virus restrictions. Doing this makes us very sad, but like all other organizations we must follow current guidelines set out by the Baden-Württemberg state government. Moreover, each one of us as individuals must do their part to help prevent the spread of this disease and to keep themselves and others around them safe and healthy. Your wellbeing is our primary concern. As far as the Rilling Sekt visit is concerned, due to the great interest you showed in signing up for this program, we will find a suitable time and date next year to offer it again.
Given the uncertainty surrounding the current situation, we have also decided to cancel our scheduled Christmas Party on Saturday, December 5th as well. We have not taken this decision lightly, but even if the current shutdown ends on November 28, the rules we would have to follow in the Alte Kanzlei restaurant would not allow us to host the number of guests we would like to have, nor could we provide the program and entertainment that make our Christmas parties so special. On this note, we are scheduled to be back in the Alte Kanzlei for our 2021 Annual Membership meeting on March 6, 2021. In the hope that we will be able to do this program, we will try and make it very special for you, including the musical entertainment that we would have had at the Christmas party.
Thus, our program offerings for the year 2020 have come to an end. We are thankful that, despite Corona, we were able to carry out seven successful programs this year in the months January through March (including our Annual Membership Meeting) and July through October, finishing up with our visit to the Pumpkin Festival at the Ludwigsburg Castle gardens. We thank you all for your help and support and understanding during this difficult year. You are the reason for our club’s existence, and we pledge to work very hard to provide fun and excellent programming for you when restrictions are lifted.
In that light we do have programs scheduled for the first few months of 2021. Our current upcoming events are as follows:
Saturday, January 30 Classical Concert – Stuttgart Philharmonics – Liederhalle Stuttgart
Saturday, February 20 French Impressionism – Staatsgalerie Stuttgart – guided tours
Saturday, March 06 Annual General Membership Meeting, Alte Kanzlei, Stuttgart
Saturday, April 24 Train Trip to Schwetzingen – Palace and Gardens
As you can see, that gets us off to a good start for 2021, and we have some really good ideas for the rest of the year as well. We will keep you informed about what is going on in the club.
Thanks again for your continued understanding and support. Keep the faith, this too shall pass. Stay safe and healthy. We look forward to better times in 2021 as we do our best to fulfill our club’s goal of furthering international understanding by bringing people together in a relaxed atmosphere for fun and fellowship. In the meantime, have a very Happy Thanksgiving in whatever way you choose to celebrate it, and we wish you all the best!
