May 2021

Dear Members, Guests and Friends of the German-American Club 1948 Stuttgart,

As the current immunization campaign picks up steam, I think we can begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. Congratulations to all those who are now fully immunized or have recovered from Corona. The German Federal Government is in the process this week of allowing significantly more freedoms for these specific groups. However, we are not yet far enough along to be able to do a program for a large group in May. We have also removed the Kelley Theater program in June, as we have absolutely no planning certainty that this event will take place.

We still hope to do the Classical Concert program in the Liederhalle in June, but we will be flexible and try to schedule an outdoor event if the Concert is not possible. Because conditions are changing so fast, we ask that you also be flexible, and be on the lookout for short term program announcements for June and later. We will start back up with programs as soon as we are able, and it may be on short notice. Such notice will come in the form of an Email program flyer, as usual, and will also be posted on our website.

We have left the scheduled programs for July and later unchanged, including the steam train ride to Welzheim including a tour of the Roman fort there in July, the Membership Meeting in August, and the outdoor wine festival at the Max-Eyth-See in September.

Here is our current revised schedule for 2021:

Saturday, 19 June Outdoor Walk in the Stuttgart area   CANCELLED
Sunday, 25 July Schwäbische Waldbahn, Schorndorf-Welzheim, with Ost Kastell
Saturday, 14 August Annual General Membership Meeting, Alte Kanzlei, Stuttgart
Saturday, 11 September Wine Fest with Vineyard Tours and Tasting, Max-Eyth-See
Sat/Sun, 25/26 September Cannstatter Volksfest   CANCELLED
Saturday, 16 October Police Museum, Pragsattel, Stuttgart
Saturday, 13/20 November Rilling Sekt Tour and Tasting, Bad Cannstatt
Saturday, 4 December Christmas Party, Alte Kanzlei, Stuttgart

Stay with us folks! We are doing our best. We have not forgotten you! The train is moving, but we cannot yet forecast when we will exit the tunnel. In the meantime, we all remain committed to fostering German-American and international friendship in spirit (and digitally), and look forward to meeting again and reconnecting in person for fun and fellowship, whenever circumstances permit. Until then stay safe and healthy.

For the board of directors of the German-American Club 1948 Stuttgart,
