Train Trip to Schwetzingen on Saturday, July 16

for a
Full Day Train Adventure Trip to the Schwetzingen Palace and Gardens near Heidelberg.
The Prince-Electors of the Rhineland Palatinate transformed their small medieval castle turned hunting lodge in Schwetzingen into a representative summer residence palace in the mid-18th century. Since then, little has been changed, so that we can enjoy the palace apartments and also stroll through the beautiful French style formal gardens and the English country garden, one of the first of its kind to be created in Germany. You won’t want to miss this adventure!
We will use the 9 € monthly train ticket for July and travel from Stuttgart via Karlsruhe to Schwetzingen. You must buy your own July 9 € train pass in advance, and bring it with you. The club will not buy train tickets for the group on the day of the event!
Schedule of Events:
08:40 Meet at the Stuttgart Main Train Station, Track 11. Don’t be late!
09:00 Train IRE 1 (19672) departs for Karlsruhe, Track 11
09:53 Arrive Karlsruhe, Track 14
10:28 S-9 Direction Mannheim departs Karlsruhe for Schwetzingen, Track 3
11:05 S-9 arrives Schwetzingen, Track 2
We will walk to the Schwetzingen Palace (10 minutes)
11:30 – 12:45 English Tour through the palace apartments.
11:45 – 13:00 German Tour through the palace apartments
To help cover costs for the tours we will collect 10 € from members and 15 € from non-members.
13:00 – 14:30 Mid-Day meal at the Restaurant “Zum Grünen Baum” (Tel:06202-7602360)
on the Schlossplatz in front of the palace. We will eat à la carte with

14:30 – 16:20 Free time to stroll through the magnificent palace gardens. You will need
to hang on to your palace entry ticket to gain access to the gardens.
You can also enjoy Kaffee und Kuchen at one of the Cafes on the Schlossplatz.
16:20 We will meet on the Schlossplatz at the entrance to the palace courtyard, and
walk to the Schwetzingen train station.
16:50 S-9 direction Karlsruhe departs Schwetzingen, Track 1. Don’t be late!
17:32 Arrive Karlsruhe, Track 3
18:05 Train IRE 1 (19683) to Stuttgart and Aalen departs Karlsruhe, Track 9
18:59 Arrive Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, Track 15. That ends our day. Hope you enjoy it!
