January 2021

Dear Members, Guests and Friends of the German-American Club 1948 Stuttgart,

We wish all of our members, guests and friends a very healthy, prosperous and Happy New Year! We thank you all for your support, patience and understanding. We are still in a dark tunnel at the moment, but there is a slight glimmer of light just beginning to show in front of us where the outline of the end of the tunnel might be. We will continue moving forward and are confident that we will come out of the tunnel at some point this year. Until then we will keep planning and preparing, so that we are ready when the time comes!

Due to current circumstances, we must cancel our scheduled January program concert at the Stuttgart Liederhalle. We have rescheduled the concert for Saturday, June 19th. On that date the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra supported by a guest pianist and choir, will play a concert composed of works by Liszt and Schubert. We still have a visit to the Staatsgalerie to see the French Impressionist exhibit scheduled for 20 February, but chances are high that this program will also have to be rescheduled. The exhibit has been extended to the beginning of July, so I am confident that we can see it later this year if necessary. We also are planning for our Annual Membership meeting at the Alte Kanzlei on Saturday, March 6, but will remain flexible if we have to reschedule. For this reason, we are leaving April and May open at the moment. Thus, here is our revised schedule for 2021:

We thank those of you who have already paid your club dues for 2021 very much. We realize that paying dues at this point is a vote of confidence in our ability to provide quality future programs as soon as we are able, and we really appreciate it. We promise that all dues received will be put back into upcoming programs to reduce costs for members as much as possible. We look forward to seeing you all once again and celebrating international friendship and understanding, as we have been doing for more than 72 years. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy and remain patient. We will come out of this tunnel!
