December 2020

Dear Members, Guests and Friends of the German-American Club 1948 Stuttgart,

As our program activities have come to an end this year, we would like to thank all of you for your support, friendship and understanding. It has been a difficult year for everyone, but we are thankful for the programs we were able to carry out and hopeful for what the future will bring. Together we have done the best we could to hold high the banner of German-American and international friendship, while striving to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved with the club. You have given life to our efforts through your continuing support and participation. Together we can hit the ground running in the new year, as soon as restrictions are lifted, to further provide opportunities for fun, fellowship and international understanding.

Your Board of Directors has been active during this latest pause to plan our program activities for 2021. Here is our current tentative list of programs for the coming year:

Thus, our program offerings for the year 2020 have come to an end. We are thankful that, despite Corona, we were able to carry out seven successful programs this year in the months January through March (including our Annual Membership Meeting) and July through October, finishing up with our visit to the Pumpkin Festival at the Ludwigsburg Castle gardens. We thank you all for your help and support and understanding during this difficult year. You are the reason for our club’s existence, and we pledge to work very hard to provide fun and excellent programming for you when restrictions are lifted.

On a sad note we would like to inform you that our great friend, supporter and long-time member of the GAC 1948, Peter Kappe, passed away on November 22, 2020. Peter was a great person and embodied German-American Friendship with his heart and soul. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rosy and her family and friends. We will carry his memory in our hearts, with honor.

As we enter the holiday season stay safe and healthy, and be patient. We will get through this together, and be all the more thankful when we can get together again. We wish you a Merry Christmas in whatever manner you celebrate it. We all join together in wishing for a very Happy New Year 2021!
