At 18:15 everyone should be settled at their tables so that the restaurant can take drink orders. Following a Christmas welcome we will be treated to an appetizer of fun music provided by our entertainment guests, the music duo "Horse Mountain". After this prelude we will begin our delicious holiday dinner, consisting of a Winter Mixed Salad, Cream of Potatoe Soup with fresh herbsand croutons, and tender Roast Oxen with carrots and roasted potato slices.
Fish and full Vegetarian main courses are also available with the menu. If you prefer one of these options please let us know when you make your dinner reservation.

After dinner (approx. 20:15) we will be treated to the musical main course, a rousing Christmas concert provided by the duo "Horse Mountain". They played for us at our 65th Anniversary party and we are happy to welcome them back. Following the concert, they will accompany us as we cap off the evening with a rousing Christmas sing-a-long. Be ready to join in and send everyone off in a festive holiday mood! Following our tradition, we would greatly appreciate it if some of the ladies (and gentlemen!) bring homemade Christmas cookies to share with others and to serve as table decorations.
The price for the dinner is € 30. Optional dessert and drinks with the meal are extra. Please pay for dinner and drinks when you leave (no advance payment). The club will pay for the reception and entertainment. Bring your Christmas spirit and help us close out the year in style!

Merry Christmas

"A Christmas Carol" at the Kelley Theatre on Sunday, 16 December,

Dear Members and Guests,

Please join us on
Sunday, 16 December, 15:00, for Charles Dickens' classic holiday story...

A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost-Story of Christmas, commonly known as A Christmas Carol, is a novella, first published in London in 1843. (Source: Wikipedia)

This Stuttgart Theatre Center adaptation of the Dickens story takes us on the sometimes joyous, sometimes dark but always magical journey of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge through Christmases Past, Present and Future. Flooded with both familiar and little known Songs of the Season, A Christmas Carol is a wondrous celebration of redemption!
(Richard Roberts, Director Kelley Theatre)

The Matinee starts at 15:00. Meet up time is 1430 in the Kelley Theatre Lobby where the tickets will be handed out.
Dinner is at the Bella Vista Sky, an Italian Restaurant, starting at 18:00. They will offer us a limited a la carte menu.

A little background information:

Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol at a time when the British were examining and exploring Christmas traditions from the past, such as carols, as well as new customs such as Christmas trees.

Published on 19 December 1843, the first edition sold out by Christmas Eve; by the end of 1844 thirteen editions had been released. A Christmas Carol has never been out of print and has been translated into several languages; the story has been adapted many times for film, stage, opera and other media.

With A Christmas Carol, Dickens captured the zeitgeist of the mid-Victorian revival of the Christmas holiday. He has been acknowledged as an influence on the modern Western observance of Christmas and inspired several aspects of Christmas, such as family gatherings, seasonal food and drink, dancing, games and a festive generosity of spirit.
