Esslingen on Saturday, 16 May 2015

Dear Members and Guests,

Please join us on Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2015, as we take a trip back in time to the Middle Ages while strolling through the streets and alleyways, and along the canals of the old town of Esslingen. Scott Beard will be our time travel guide, and will tell us a little about the history of Esslingen and explain the interesting sites we see along the way. Esslingen is a beautiful old town which suffered little damage during WW II, so that many of its historic buildings have survived. This is an opportunity you won't want to miss!
The tour will take about two hours, at a slow walking pace on mostly level terrain with several stops. There are some steps and small rises to navigate. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour will go, rain or shine, so be prepared for the weather.

Date: Saturday, May 16
Meeting time: 14.20 hours
Tour start: 14.45 hours sharp
Cost: Free!
Location: Esslingen Marktplatz

Our tour will end around 17.00 at the Weinkeller Einhorn, Heugasse 17 (Tel:0711-353590), where we will conclude our medieval time travel as we dine in the fabulous atmosphere of the 700 year old wine cellar. Dinner will be a la carte, and they offer salads, light Swabian food and main courses from 10-20 €, along with very good house wines (and of course, other wines and beverages). While enjoying dinner we will also have time to see old friends, make new ones, and engage in pleasant conversation. Please state with your reservation if you are joining us for dinner.

Best regards,
