Dear Members and Guests,

Come and spend a while wallowing in kitsch gone wild! The Schweine Museum in Stuttgart Ost is housed in the old administration building of Stuttgart's former slaughterhouse and has the largest collection, in the world, of pig-themed art in every imaginable shape and size.

Saturday, 23 February 2013 at the

Schweine (Pig) Museum

Schlachthofstraße 2a, 70188 Stuttgart Ost

We will meet in front of the entrance to the Schlachthof, the museum's cafe/restaurant at 14:30.
(For directions, please see map >>)

The Pig Museum oozes originality with 50,000 pigs to look at, many to touch and all to love; there is something for all the senses to experience. In every corner of the museum, whether sitting, perched, or lounging is this comical animal with its curly tail.

Divided into 28 themed rooms and covering 800 square meters, pigs of all kinds present their storied history: from the zoological to the pig in arts and culture, as well as legendary pigs in mythology and symbolism - in this unique museum you will see the versatility of this loveable beast in the most colorful and wacky colors, shapes and designs.
(Info based on the description on the museum's webpage: www.schweinemuseum.de)

We have arranged for two 1 hour tours in English and German starting at 15:00. Due to the size of the rooms, we are limited to 25 people per group, for a total of 50 participants. Entrance to the museum is € 3.50 per person; the club will cover the cost of the tours.

Following our tour, there will be time to look around and shop. We will then gather in the Schlachthof Restaurant, with its Jugendstil architecture at 16:30, for a limited à la carte meal (to include vegetarian) and really excellent beer. Entree prices range from €9.90 to € 18.90. Please state if you are staying for dinner with your reservation.

For our 65th Anniversary Year, we are organizing a weekend bus trip (package tour) to the unique open air opera festival (Spiel auf dem See - Opera on the Lake) in Bregenz, Austria. We will see Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte / The Magic Flute" on the evening of Saturday, August the 10th. If you are interested in this exciting trip please mark your calendars - August 10/11, 2013. The formal invitation with all details will be sent out in May.
This will be a "Members only" trip!
