Barefoot Park Adventure,
Saturday July 14, 2012

Dear members and friends,

Come rediscover your inner child at the

Barfußpark Dornstetten-Hallwangen
In the Northern Black Forest
Navi/GPS: Silberwaldstrasse

Saturday, 14 July 2012 at 1500

During the last 20 years, at least 100 of these parks have been founded in Europe, mainly here in Germany and Austria. They are open to the public and offer folks the opportunity to walk without shoes and feel the natural textures under their feet and between their toes. (www.barfusspark.info)

Children are welcome; please keep the pets at home.

© www.barfusspark.info Much of the 2.5 km trail at Hallwangen runs through the forest. Our guide will take us over patches of mud, sand, grass, clay, stones, gravel, water, wooden shapes and balancing logs; as well as a giant trampoline and a rope pyramid. The park recommends that you bring a towel and a change of clothes - especially for the kids. At the entrance there are shelves or lockers (for a € 1 deposit) to store your shoes and a place to wash your feet. There is also a kiosk where you can buy snacks and souvenirs.

The 1 1/2 hour tour will be paid for by the club, but there is a € 4 charge for parking (the meter only takes coins). In the event the main parking lot is full, there is overflow parking; set the GPS to Mühlweg, 72280, Dornstetten-Hallwangen.

Time: 1500 (please arrive at least 20 minutes before). The park itself does not have an address; they advise setting the navigation system to Silberwaldstrasse in Dornstetten. If you are in need of a ride, please let us know; we'll figure out something.

Dinner at the Hotel Gasthof "Waldgericht", in the nearby town of Dornstetten-Aach, a charming fachwerk (half-timbered) building that offers nourishing home-cooked Swabian and Black Forest dishes. We have arranged a 2-course meal for under € 15.00.

First course: Tomato or Flädle Soup; Second course: Käsespätzle or Rahmschnitzel, both w/salad. For the children there will be kinder-sized portions of Spätzle and Pommes Frites. Please let us know with your reservation if you are staying for dinner and if yes, your choice for each course, as well as how many children's meals are required.
