Feuerstein und Kelten Gold, 21 January 2012

Dear members and friends,

We invite you to join us for our first program in 2012, a visit to the City Museum of Esslingen, where we will tour the special exhibit, "Feuerstein und Kelten Gold" (Fire Flint and Celtic Gold), Archaeological Treasures from the area around Esslingen. We will see artefacts from the Stone Age to the Romans, 50,000 B.C. to 300 A.D, which our tour guides will explain for us and put into the context of the almost continuous settlement of the Esslingen area in this time period.

15:45 hours

We have arranged for 2 tours, one in English and one in German. The tours will both begin at 16:00 hours sharp, so don't be late! The tours will last about one hour, after which we will have a little time to browse at the special exhibit or in the rest of the museum.

Price for the tours and museum entry:
€2 for members, € 3 for guests. Please pay Thomas Heinz when you arrive.

Following our museum visit, at approx. 17:20 hours, we will walk around the corner to the Weinkeller Einhorn, Heugasse 17, Esslingen, where we will dine la carte in the 750 year old vaulted wine cellar. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and offers main dishes from € 10-20, as well as their own house wines from the hills just above the old town.

Many of you have joined Scott for history walks through beautiful medieval Esslingen. Come this time to find out what happened in Esslingen before the Middle Ages!
